August 2023 Emergency Medical Technician Tues- Thurs

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is a certified pre-hospital health care professional who is capable of providing Basic Life Support (BLS) at the scene of an emergency and while enroute to the hospital. Emergency Medical Technician work is both physically and psychologically challenging. Emergency Medical Technicians are employed by fire, police and rescue agencies, hospitals, private ambulance companies and in a variety of business and industries with a high potential for accidental injury or illness.
All Emergency Medical Technicians must understand how to handle an emergency situation, control bleeding, apply splints, assist with childbirth, manage airway control, administer oxygen, perform cardiac care and other basic life support (BLS) skills.
Becoming an Emergency Medical Technician requires strict training. Training classes prepare students to function as practitioners in the prehospital emergency medical environment. The curriculum meets the requirements of the PA Dept. of Health, and the National Registry of EMTs. Students who complete the program successfully will be eligible to take the National Registry written and practical examinations for certification.

Students have 24 hour access and work at their own pace throughout the week. At the end of the week on Sunday at 11:55 pm, all of the weekly assignments will close. This course meets every Tuesday and Thursday night from 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. for mandatory "in person" sessions, as well as occasional weekends. This allows the student to practice with equipment and hone their skills.
